History of Mong Mit Kingdom
The kingdom of Mong Mit is a rich Shan kingdom, located in the northwest of Shan Hills. It is said that the kingdom was established in early 10th Century AD. The kingdom was founded by the early settlements of Shan people, migrated from the Yunnan province in China.

Famous for its ruby mines, the capital of Mong Mit kingdom is the center of jeweleries and jewel merchants. In addition to its jewels, the city, being located on the bank of Shweli River, is also blessed with fertile land for agriculture.
